Privacy Policy

This page describes what information AnimeSwiper collects when you use the service at animeswiper.com, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We try to keep it short and in plain English.

1. Who we are

AnimeSwiper (“we”, “us”) operates the website animeswiper.com. For any privacy-related question, or to exercise the rights described below, email hello@animeswiper.com.

2. Data we collect

2.1 Account data

When you sign up we store an email address and an authentication identifier issued by our auth provider (Supabase). We do not store plaintext passwords — credentials are handled by Supabase Auth.

2.2 App activity

To make recommendations work, we store the anime titles you save, mark as watched, or skip, along with timestamps. This is used to build a personal “taste vector” that drives Discover. We do not log the individual content of skip/save taps beyond the anime id.

2.3 Technical data

Like most websites, we receive standard HTTP request data (IP address, user agent, referrer, requested path). This is used for security, abuse prevention, and aggregated analytics. We do not build advertising profiles from it.

2.4 Cookies & local storage

  • Authentication cookies set by Supabase to keep you signed in. Required for the app to function.
  • Session storage we use to remember your place in the Discover feed between page loads. Cleared when you close the tab.
  • Advertising cookies set by Google AdSense — see section 4 for details and opt-out links.

3. How we use your data

  • To authenticate you and keep your session active.
  • To generate and improve personal recommendations in Discover and on the Saved shelf.
  • To protect the service from abuse, spam, and fraud.
  • To respond to your support requests when you email us at hello@animeswiper.com.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.

4. Third-party services

4.1 Google AdSense

AnimeSwiper displays ads through Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to our website and other websites on the internet.

4.2 Supabase

We use Supabase for authentication, database storage, and server-side API calls. Account data, profile vectors, and interaction logs are stored in Supabase. Supabase's own privacy policy applies to their processing of that data.

4.3 AniList

Anime metadata (titles, genres, tags, scores) is sourced from the public AniList API. We do not send your personal data to AniList.

4.4 Cloudflare

The site is served via Cloudflare Workers. Cloudflare may process standard HTTP request data as a sub-processor to provide CDN, DDoS protection, and edge computing.

5. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You can delete everything at any time from your account page — the delete button removes your profile, interaction history, taste vector, and sign-in record immediately. If you prefer, you can also email us and we'll handle it within 30 days. Aggregated, anonymised analytics may persist longer.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate personal data.
  • Delete your account and associated personal data.
  • Export your interaction history in a machine-readable format.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw any consent you previously gave for advertising cookies.

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@animeswiper.com from the email address associated with your account, and we'll respond within 30 days.

GDPR (EU/UK users)

Our legal basis for processing is (a) performance of our contract with you for account and recommendation features, and (b) our legitimate interest in securing the service and serving non-personalised ads. Personalised ads rely on consent and can be withdrawn at any time via the links in section 4.1.

CCPA (California users)

We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA. You have the right to request disclosure of the categories of personal information we collect and to request deletion, as described above.

7. Children's privacy

AnimeSwiper is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we'll remove it.

8. Security

We use industry-standard measures — encrypted transport (HTTPS), row-level security in our database, and least-privilege API keys. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data and will notify affected users of any material breach as required by law.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy over time. Material changes will be announced on the site or by email. Continued use of AnimeSwiper after an update means you accept the revised policy. The “Last updated” date at the bottom of this page always reflects the current version.
